Disaster Recovery Funds (Loans for Small Businesses)
Governor Abbott announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has now granted Texas’ Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) assistance declaration, making loans available statewide to small businesses and private, non-profit organizations to help alleviate economic injury caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Next Steps: Small businesses who believe they may be eligible for an SBA EIDL should visit the SBA’s website where they can directly apply for assistance. The online application is the fastest method to receive a decision about loan eligibility.

Commerce Airport Soars to New Heights
Through the efforts of the Commerce Airport Advisory Board, City Manager & Director of Community Development, a TxDOT Grant with matching funds was applied for and awarded to the City of Commerce benefiting the local aviation hub.
New Industry Coming to Commerce
The Commerce Economic Development Corporation has announced that POLARA Enterprises will soon open a new manufacturing facility in Commerce, Texas.
The California-based company is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of electronic components and devices used by the industrial, medical and traffic industries, as well as the U.S. Military.
“We are truly proud that a world-class manufacturer such as Polara has chosen Commerce, Texas as the location for its first expansion” said Bonnie Hunter, Executive Director for the CEDC.
“The addition of Polara to our community will bring jobs and add to the economic vitality of this part of northeast Texas.”
Polara is also currently a premier supplier of accessible pedestrian signaling systems used by municipalities all over the country. The company will continue to operate its 40,000+ square foot primary facility in southern California. According to Hunter, the new Commerce plant will simply add to the firm’s sales and manufacturing capabilities.

Commerce EDC Announces Receipt of USDA RURAL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE GRANT
In the Amount of $90,000
Through the USDA, the Commerce Economic Development Corporation has received $90,000 in grant funds to establish a revolving loan fund. These funds will be used to provide financial assistance through low interest loans to small and emerging private business enterprises within the City of Commerce ETJ. A primary component for loan consideration is job creation.
Guidelines and applications will be available through the Commerce EDC, and must also meet approval by the USDA.
The Commerce Economic Development Corporation (the “CEDC”) is accepting sealed bids to award a contract for the mowing of selected developed and undeveloped lots for the Commerce Economic Development Corporation. The successful Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and public safety equipment necessary to perform this work.
